English
This was our first big trip.
The whole journey was 18 days in total. We did a 6 days trek to the top of Kilimanjaro and after that enjoyed life on Zanzibar.

After the first trip to East Africa, we wanted to see more of the country and got a leave from work for 3 months.
The purpose of the journey was to travel all the way around the Victoria Lake and visit our sponsor child. Highlights from the trip: Climbed Mt. Kenya, Safari in the Masai Mara, Gorilla trek in Uganda, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Bunyonyi, river rafting on the Victoria Nile River and to meet George William and his family. Last but not least Zanzibar once more where we got to swim with wild dolphins.

This trip was a journey of seven weeks , where we first travled to India for a few days to see the Taj Mahal.
From India we flew to Kathmandu in Nepal, where we met with five of our friends from Billund Airport ( Team Billund Airport ) .
We all went on a 3 weeks trek to the mountain Mara Peak - 6,476 m high.
It was 3 weeks we never forget and we had a fantastic trip , even though none of us reached the top .
We reached High Camp 5800 m altitude.
When we got back to Kathmandu we split up. Some travled home others continued to other destinations.
We flew to Bangkok to continue to Cambodia, where we would see the temple Angkor Wat.
After 5 lovely days in Cambodia , we traveled back to Thailand to go island hopping (Koh Chang - Koh Wai - Koh Mak) and meet with our good
friends Ina and Dan. At the end we took 3 days in Bangkok,
which ended up being five days since Bangkok airport was taken over by the people of Thailand.
Her besteg vi vulkanen Mt.
English
The Philippines was a journey of 3 weeks (month of March 2009). This trip is one of the trips we have managed to see most in the least time. We flew to Manila where we spent 1 1/2 days before we flew north on Luzon island to the city of Tuguegarao, when we thought it could be a shortcut to Sagada to see the hanging coffins and the rice terraces. But it turned out the way we thought we could make shortcut through was not used due to many road robberies. So our shortcut was a full day by bus to reach Sagada. Here we got to see the hanging coffins and a giant cave which had also been used as a burial ground. From Sagada we went to the rice terraces in Banaue, which was very fasinating and incredibly beautiful. Then we took the bus from Banaue back to Manila to fly to Lagazpi which lies entirely south of Luzon island. Here we climbed the volcano Mt. Mayon - 2463 m high. A trek from early morning to late evening. After the trek to Mt. Mayon we took a trip to Donsol, the trip lasted one day. There we had the opportunity to swim with whale sharks just off the coast. A very unique experience when we had a boat all to ourselves and there were not others who swam with the whale sharks than us. We flew to the island of Palawan and went up on the north side of the island to El Nido, where we were 8 full days and enjoyed life with snorkeling and azure blue waters. The last two things we did before we went home again was a tour of the underground caves and 2 days shopping in Manila.

This was the starting point for our bicycle travels.
This trip started on the 16th. September 2009 from Vejle, Denmark and took us through 11 very different countries.
Our route was: Denmark, Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey
then we flew from Istanbul to Mumbai and biked from Mumbai, India to Kathmandu, Nepal.
After 8 days of rest we went on an 18-days trek to climb the Mountain Island Peak with its 6189 m.
It was an unforgettable trip, experience on the bike and on the Trek was far beyond our imaginings.
Although we did not reach the top of Island Peak, it was the best trek to date. We also trekked to Everest Basecamp even though it was not part of the plan. But as we did not reach the top of Island Peak this gave good meaning to see basecamp instead.
When we got back to Kathmandu, we had some days of rest before we flew to Kuala Lumpuri in Malaysia and further on to Perhentian Island in order to enjoy life and snorkeling. Which also is our great passion.
The tour lasted 5 1/2 month, where we had been on leave from Billund Airport.
We were back in Denmark 7th. March 2010 in order to be able to start work one week later.
Vel og mærke over to dage.
Hvorefter cyklede Tara videre ned igennem Syd Øst Asien alene.
Rejsen strakte sig over 7 uger ialt.
English
After the bike ride to Nepal, we wanted more. It was not long before we began looking for a new trip we could take our bikes on.
It was a trip from Lhasa in Tibet to Kathmaandu in Nepal. The trip was via the road Friendship Highway and it is one of the world's highest roads.
At first we had found our own company that would guide us on the trip, as it is not possible to move freely in Tibet without a guide. But one day we got in touch
with a Italian guy via Thorn Tree forum on Lonely Planet. We were fortunate that he had hold of a company in China, which could make the trip something cheaper
and another plus was that Gian the Italian guy spoke Chinese. So we agreed to ride with him and before leaving a Canadian girl came along as well on our trip.
Her name was Tara, and is to this day one of our best bike friends.
Before we did meet we had written some mails. This to learn each other better and planning stuff.
We flew to Chengdu for a few days so we could see the panda bears in Chengdu Zoo. At the same time it was here we met with Tara, who came by air from Canada.
Together we flew to Lhasa, where we met with Gian. After a few days in Lhasa we started the trip for Kathmandu.
A total of 1000 km, where we were cycling over 5 altitude passes which are in more than 5,000 m altitude and one of the highlights of the trip
were when we cycled up to see Everest Base Camp (The chinese side of Everest).
Another highlight was when we had to cycle down from the plateau at 4200 m height and hurtle down the world's longest descent - 160 kilometers. It took aprox two days.
But an incredible experience to get from cold weather with minus 5-10 degrees and then get down to 24-26 degrees with sun plus lush greenery and lots of waterfalls.
The ride took 18 days. We had a car with all our equipment. Which was nice when we had to climb the high passes.
The trip was very special with the tibetian culture and all it´s history. Nature was unique and harsh at the same time. A very fascinating experience.
When we arrived in Kathmandu, we had a few days together before Gian flew back to China and we flew to Thailand to go Island hopping once more. Tara stayed in Kathmandu
for another week before she and her boyfriend went on a 3 week trek around the Annapurna region. Where upon Tara rode her bike down through south east asia on her own.
Our journey lasted for seven weeks in total.
Vejen snor sig 48 kilometer over alperne.
English
This was our summer vacation in 2012. We had decided to fly to Zadar and then cycling back to Denmark within 22 days. We had counted the kilometers to be approximately 1800 kilometers. So if we cycled 100 km per day it should be possible in the 22 days and we could even have a few days break along the way. We got a stupid start when we had to assemble the bikes at the airport in Zadar, it turned out that the tubes we had bought from home was a bad production, for every time we pumped air in the tires, a hole appeared on the hoses. So in the end we had no more tubes and had to take transportation to the campsite we had decided to sleep on. It took two days before we started cycling, when we had to pick up new htubes and fix the problem. The trip along the Croatian coast where very beautiful and very warm. After Croatia we cycled a day in Slovenia and on to Italy before the big test came in Austria when we had to cycle up the Hochalpen Strasse, Austria's highest situated road. The road winds its way 48 kilometers over the Alps. A 24 km uphill climbs up to 14% the steepest places before reaching Fuschertörl in 2504 m altitude, This is the top and from here on we went down through schwitch backs to Zell am See. We could see that we could not manage to go all the way home at the time we set off, so from Zell am See, we took the train to Ingolf Stadt in Germany. From herre wew cycled 12 days before we reached Jarplund just outside Flensburg, Heidi's brother came to met us there. He had cycled from Aarhus to meet us on the way home. After a pleasant evening in Flensburg we cycled together home to Vejle. after which Heidi's brother continued to Aarhus. We mannaged to cycling 1800 km in the 22 days the trip lasted.
English
This trip became a reality when our friend Tara wrote to us and told that she would cycle Carratera Austral in March / April 2013. It was an
occasion to ask her if we could ride with her.
It turned out we where more than Welcome. So we met in Santiago de Chile, where after we flew 1000 km south to the city of Puerto Montt, where the cycling tour should start.
We had to cover 2200 km in total and 900 km of it was gravel road.
We cycled a total of 33 days down through Chile and crossed the border into Argentina through an old smuggler path, which is now available for hikers and cyclists crazy as us.
Nature along the way was like being on another planet. Both tough but also pretty with rushing rivers, glacier and giant mountains.
We went on a trek in Torres del Paine Nationalpark. Where we walked up to Las Torres to see them up close.
These are three giant towers made of stone , which towers above a beautiful glacial lake
We also had time to take a day trip to the Perito Moreno Glacier. The glacier is located in Los Glaciares National Park in Lago Argentino and is part of the largest mass of ice outside Greenland and Antarctica.
The glacier is 250 square kilometers and 30 kilometers long. It is one of the few glaciers in the world that does not dwindle . Glacier facing the lake is 5 km long and has an average height of 60 meters.
We cycled to the southernmost town in the world, Ushuaia and after a few days off rest we flew to Buenos Aires, where we finished off with lovely red wine and a Argentine tango.

We traveled to Australia in September 2013 when we were invited to the wedding of some good friends and at the same time we would like to
take a closer look at the country.
We spent the first days in Brisbane / Redcliff and region. The wedding was held at a beautiful place called Secrets on the lake, which is about
an hour's drive north of Brisbane near the small cozy town of Mont Ville.
After the wedding we flew to Townsville, where we sailed to Macnetic Island, a small island where there are only very few cars as the island only is
10 kilometers in each direction. Here we enjoyed the sun and the beautiful beaches.
After six days we sailed to Townsville and stayed at Aquaruis by the sea for 4 days. So we had time to take a look at Townsville and rent a car and
drive inland to Charters Towers, which is an old gold mining town, still with some of the buildings from back in time.
From Townsville we flew back to Brisbane to attend a farewell dinner for some of the others who had also been at the wedding. The day after the
dinner we flew to Sydney and had 5 wonderful days there.
Before the long journey went back to Denmark.
English
We took a trip to Oman in 2014. We were so lucky that we have acquired enough bonus points by traveling with KLM, so we could buy a return ticket for 712 , - danish kroner pr. person. We had 10 full days , where we managed to see some of Muscat and went on a trip into the desert and tried to stay as in 1001 Nights . The area is called Wahiba Sands (The emty quarters ) and the place 1000 nights camp . We traveled in September when the season was not really started yet, probably because it was too hot. We have around plus 40 degrees every day, so we were very happy with the air conditioning. We saw Wadi Shab and drove up from Sur on Highway 17 along the Gulf of Oman. 60 Kilometers south of Muscat we had booked us into a fancy hotel Sifawy Boutique Hotel which was located in As Sifah . We also had time to get on a dolphin trip where we saw many 100 of spinner dolphins and then we got the possibility to go snorkeling as well.

This trip was in early 2015. We had 4 weeks holiday that we used in these lovely countries.
First we flew to Abu Dhabi, to experience the mystique there.
We saw Sheikh Zayed Mosque, went for a walk on The Corniche and saw Farrari World. Then the incredible buildings and towers built in the middle of the desert.
From Abu Dhabi we flew to Myanmar, with an overnight stay in Bangkok.
We should have been to Myanmar in 2013, but canceled the trip at the time due to floods. But now it succeed and we flew to Mandalay first. Here we would like to see the world's longest teak wood bridge - U Bein - it is 1.1 km long. After that we got a beautiful sunset on Mandalay hill the same evening.
From Mandalay we went to Bagan. We had ordered a boattrip where we sailed from Mandalay to Bagan by the Ayeyarwady river. A relaxing trip that takes a full day.
In Bagan, we rented bikes to cycle around between the many temples and stupas found there. We spent two full days just cycling and exploring and did not managed to see everything as the area is huhge.
We flew up to experience Inle Lake and spent a few days there. Inle Lake was an experience, but everything goes so fast and people can see the idea of making money, so it seemed a bit artificial sometimes.
At the end of Myanmar, we took eight whole days to Ngwesaung beach and stayed at Emerald Sea Resort. Lovely place with a looooong white beach.
The journey in Myanmar ended with 2 days in Rangoon where we got to explore the fascinating Shwedagon Pagoda, which with its 105 meters, towers over the city.
We also looked Inside is the beautiful Strand Hotel, which was opened in 1901. The rooms are quite expencive and something we never will get near, but fun to look at.
At the end of the journey we took 3 full days in Bangkok where we went on a big shopping spree with our favorite brand Body Glove and got our relaxing massages before we turned back to work.
Forhåbentlig i Khorogh.

Pamir Highway is part of the Silk Route and this bike ride, came true as Tara took off on her World Tour in early 2015. We found out that we could meet in Osh to cycle Pamir Highway from Osh in Kyrgistan to Dushanbe in Tajikistan. Tara had adapted her trip so that we could meet in Osh September 15, 2015 and we could ride off together the following day. The trip unfortunately never went as we had expected. Tara had to apply for her visa to Tajikistan in Bishkek and usually it's something that takes 30 minutes. But when she arrived in Bishkek, she got a message that the embassey was closed without further notice. So we had to quickly prepared a plan B. The plan was that we left Osh on our bikes September 16, 2016, bound for Tajikistan and Dushanbe. Tara would buy a ticket and then fly to Dushanbe. Here she could get visas on arrival at the airport and from Dushanbe she would ride the opposite way to meet with us. Hopefully in Khorogh. It was pretty exciting if it would succeed, on the way we had no mobile coverage and no Internet. We eventually found a solution through Facebook, where we wrote to a friend in Denmark, who could write to Tara via Facebook and give us an update on how far she was. We should have cycled the whole Pamir Highway via Wakhan Valley. But to be sure to meet Tara in Khorogh we skipped it and cycled the direct route to Khorogh. Here we managed to meet up with Tara and we had three wonderful days together. We even biked with her slightly into Whakan Valley when she had to continue her World Tour after meeting with us. Total we had 4 weeks and we managed to cycle 900 km. Where many of the miles were in more than 4000 meters altitude. It was an unforgettable trip, with the greatest hospitality we have met up until today on our trips. We also meet a couple from Poland, Dawid and Marta. Those we cycled with for eight days and got a friendship for life.
Bon Bini !!!
This never happens, so this is your lucky day!!!

Bon Bini !!!
This 14 day trip to the island of Curacao became a different trip than we had expected.
Curacao is one of the ABC islands (Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao) All three belong to the Netherlands Antilles and are located north of Venezuela.
After our long bicycle trip, we were ready to explore one of our other great passions - snorkeling and after we had looked at several different places to travel, our choice fell on Curacao.
From Billund we flew to Amsterdam and on to Curacao a total of 12 hours.
The first 4 nights we stayed in a small apartment in Willhelmstad on the street Hoogstraat, perfect for everything. The days in Willhelmstad we spent walking around the streets and exploring the city. One of the days we went out to Mambo Beach, a 5 km walk to see what it had to offer.
Not a beach we liked. It was too "fancy" with lots of sun loungers / beds and music, shops and bucket beer - buy 6 for 7 price.
For the last 9 days we had rented a small car so we could get around on the island and out west to Lagun, where we had rented an apartment with sea view. We were looking forward to seeing what we could see under the sea surface.
It was super easy to snorkel directly from the small cozy beaches and coves that are located on the south side of the island.
The ocean on the north side is very rough and is not suitable for swimming.
We almost drove to a new bay every day and had different experiences. We were hoping to see sea turtles and saw got to see a lot in the Piskado Bay.
Unfortunately, the Piskado Bay is known for its sea turtles and many are snorkeling there because of that. But if you want a better experience, come early in the morning. Then there are not so many people and the turtles will probably be there anyway.
We snorkled in Grosse Knip and Kleine Knip. Two coves located right next to the eachother. Each time we saw lots of different fish.
We snorkled in Lagun and saw smaller sea turtles and we tried Playa Jeremi. All nice places. Maybe not the main sights but then there are not lots of people around.
We got the biggest experience when we snorkled out from Kleine Knip. Here we were lucky to see more than 50 dolphins who came right up to us and let us swim with them for 5 minutes ..... all alone !!! The wildest experience because it does not just happen. That was what one of the locals said to us when we came back to land and told him we had swam with 50 dolphins. This never happens, so this is your lucky day !!! He said.
Otherwise, the island offers Shete Boka National Park and Christoffel Park where Christoffel Berg lies with its 372 m.
There are different trekking routes, they are no long routes, so most can be done in half a day.
We walked from the main entrance to the top of Christoffelberg in 1 1/2 hour. The first part of the trail was not hard, but the last part has to be climbed over big stones and is quite hard. Remember, it's as hard to go down, as up and when you're on top you're only halfway.
Start early (between 06:00 am and 07:00 am), avoiding the heat and remember water. At least 2 liters.
The view is really worth the trip and from the top you can see all over the island.
You can also see Flamingos on Curacao. The area is called Flamingo Sanctuary Sint Willisbrordus and here you can see the flamingos close by. They have the very beautiful dark orange / pinkish color and are worth a visit.
Before we came to Curacao we might have been a little skeptical, but we were really surprised and probably fell in love with the island (Just a little bit) one thing is for sure we experienced a lot on the 14 days we were here and enjoyed life in the sun and the Caribbean breeze.

Is med ølsmag.
Her cyklede vi først over skyerne og kunne se bjergene stikke op igennem skyerne.

In May 2019, Taiwan finally became part of our travel universe.
Taiwan had been on our bucket list several times but we had to wait until 2019 before it became a reality.
We flew with KLM from Billund Airport and were so lucky that KLM just launched a concept called
Go 4 Gold, which meant that we could upgrade to Buisnessclass for a reasonable extra payment and thus had an exceptional trip to Taiwan. Imagine to lay down and sleep plus the great service of food onboard and the arrive after approx. 12 hour flight, all ready to explore a new country.
We stayed at the Meander Hostel in Taipei for the first 2 nights where we met up with our good friend Hui Chi, who we had been working with in Denmark.
Hui Chi took us around temples and places of interest in Taipei and told us a lot about Taiwan's history.
One thing we were looking forward to was trying Taiwan's street food. Which we jumped right into from the first night.
Here we could taste hot dog in a rice bun. Ice cream in a pancake with coriander. Ice cream with beer flavor. Bobble tea in liters, Mochi https://images.app.goo.gl/QSEwQrB4cuwUXkYg8 and a lot of other exciting and strange tasting things.
After two exciting days in Taipei, we set off on our touring bikes and headed for the mountains and Toroko Gorge.
Taiwan is very mountainous and our avage kilometer was limited to 50 - 70 km a day. The traffic was not bad at all when you got outside Taipei and out on the small roads up in the mountains. Up here it could easily be an hour between meting a car and the roads were beautifully landscaped and often moss covered. Almost completely hobit landscape.
Even in the pouring rain, everything was incredibly beautiful, because rain can't be avoided in Taiwan.
Taroko Gorge https://images.app.goo.gl/xne5pdM7vjb9vXGY9 was a wild experience. We cycled up from Route 7 and onto Route 8 before reaching 10 km below the top of Taroko Gorge, from here we had 80 kilometers down to sea level. Here we first cycled over the clouds and could see the mountains rising through the clouds. Later the trip went down through the clouds and ended with high sunshine before reaching the sea again. The trip though the gorge has to be one of the most spectacular ones we have done on any tour.
In total we cycled around Taiwan for 17 days, but 7 days more would have been nice, so we had some more time up in the mountains.
We managed to visit Green Island https://images.app.goo.gl/jUTkLSrvFLaGaBsx7 for 3 nights, where we got to snorkel and see the whole island, which has so much to offer.
The water around the island is quite rough so you have to be a reasonably good swimmer in order to swim there.
We saw an incredible number of clownfish and other colorful fish.
The trip to the island only takes 60 minutes, so easy to get to and from.
Along the way we slept in a tent and found lots of really high quality and affordable homestays.
When we had to eat along the way, the choice fell on 7/11 or Family Mart. They were in almost every small town and had everything to offer. From breakfast to dinner and lots of other useful things.
We can only say that we fell completely for Taiwan and would like to visit the country again sometime.
Not to forget is, that the Taiwanese people was very helpfull as well.
**Tag et kig her: https://youtu.be/oM-Zpg9wOCc Samos 2019 - Under and above (Video fra vores tur)**

English
This was our second visit to the Greek island of Samos.
We had been there many years ago, so we knew little about the island. Then and now we decided to live in the small town of Votsalakia, which is located south / west of the island. 1 hour and 15 minutes drive from the airport.
We had rented a house with pool through Apollo Travel, the place was called Villa Eleona's https://goo.gl/maps/eBnNhhP4WVJWBpvz8 and was something completely different from what we had tried before.
For a week we had a whole house with our own pool and sea views all to ourselves.
The place invited to completely relax and unwine and relax 110%. The days were spent reading books and scouting out over the sea, swimming in the pool and enjoying life.
Of course we should also try to climb the highest point on the island - Mt. Kerkis. we had done this last time we were here, so we had to repeat that success.
We lived right at the foot of the mountain and the path leading up to the start of the trek. We could remember that it had taken quite a while to climb, but how long we couldn't remember.
** Take a look here: https://youtu.be/oM-Zpg9wOCc Samos 2019 - UNDER AND ABOVE (Video from our tour) **
But we started in the morning (06:30), brought more than 2 liters of water per person. Which is a minimum of water to take on such a trip and a good English Flab Jack, which we could eat once we had reached the top.
The trip is not for everyone. One thing is to reach the top, you walk on small paths which are of different quality. Sometimes you have to climb sections, while it is gradually getting warmer and warmer at other times you have to pay close attention as it goes right down next to you. Along the way you pass a smaller church. It was not open when we went there, so to fill up water there is not to be expected. Aprox 30 minutes before reaching the top there is a small monastery, which was open, so we had the opportunity to look inside the small chapel.
The view from the top is incredible, where you can look all the way around the island and look far down and out over the beautiful sea. But keep in mind that you are only halfway when you reach the top and to get down is probably even harder than to reach the top. We were completely done by the time we returned, late afternoon.
In total we had walked for 6 hours and 30 minutes and traveled 20 kilometers. Our bodies were well used and over the next few days we could clearly feel the whole body and most of all our legs, which were very sore and tired.
We also rented a car for two days and drove to the other side of the island and went out snorkeling and exploring the small coves around there as well.
A nice break from a busy day where we enjoyed the good weather and the tasty Greek food and beer.
Scroll down for english ;-)

English version
After 1 1/2 years without any travel abroad, we finally got the opportunity to go to lovely Greece.
We had booked a week's holiday with Apollo and flew off on September 6th.
We have been to Greece many times. I have visited 9 different islands and Heidi has visited 8 different islands.
We had been aging at Lefkas.
The island did not disappoint at all, in fact I would say that, it is probably the island we have visited, which has had the most beautiful beaches and with crystal clear bathing water with relatively many fish.
We rented bikes one day and cycled out to Desemi beach where you can swim, snorkel out to a small cave.
The beach is small, with small tavernas and there is a campsite. One minus was that there were many boats to keep an eye on when we snorkeled.
Visit the beach from the morning, then you may be lucky enough to find a place with shade under the olive trees.
We were on a boat trip called Nidris archipelago with BBQ. A beautiful day, with beautiful water and a visit to the island of Meganissi where the small village of Spartohori is located at the end of some steep stairs.
The trip ended with a bathing stop off the island of Scorpio, where guards on boats guarded the glamorous family Onassis`s private island. A very exciting and beautiful trip.
We visited two of the spectacular beaches at Lefkas. The one Porto Katsiki, which was supposed to be one of the most popular on the island, which was also to see.
Come early in the day if you want to experience the beach more deserted, because over dinner the beach gets crowded and the parking lots as well.
It is worth considering driving from there no later than 4pm. Otherwise you will be caught in a chaos of cars on the narrow roads that lead down to the place. But it was beautiful.
I will at any time choose another beach, such as Pefkoulia beach which is located on the northwest side of Lefkas. This is a sandy beach and you can rent sunbeds and umbrellas. The car can be parked right at the descent to the beach and here is much more quiet than on Katsiki beach.
If you live in Nidri, it takes 35 minutes by car to get there.
We enjoyed the 6 full days we had and are looking forward to the next trip. Wherever it will take us to.
